We were so excited to participate in our very first read-a-thon – Tis the Season a Thon. This is hosted by: @Crownsandquills @bookables1 @SuperSpaceChick @btwchapters and @chelseadolling #tistheseasonathon
The challenges were:
1. Read a book with red or green on the cover
2. Read a book while listening to holiday music
3. Read a warm & fuzzy book
4. Read a short book (200-250 pages)
5. Read a holiday themed book
This is how we did:
Read a book with red or green on the cover :
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
Stunningly beautiful book. The prose was out-of-this world dreamy, I have no idea how people can write like that. Loved the Indian Mythology aspect. 4/5
Read a book while listening to holiday music :
Pride by Ibi Soboi
I read this book while I had sounds of firelogs crackling in the background. I’m noise sensitive so I couldn’t do actual music. This book was sadly a huge disappointment – a highly anticipated one for me that I really didn’t enjoy. 2/5
Read a warm & fuzzy book:
Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
I only finished half of this but I will likely finish the other half in the next night. This is a reread for me and I adore the story. 5/5
Read a short book (200-250 pages) & Read a holiday themed book:
The Last of Spirits by Chris Priestley
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to this book at all. I do still intend to read it this month though.
So I did better than I thought I would, it kinda helped that I stayed home two days. I was able to complete 4 out of 5 challenges and I’m pretty happy with that. Here s what I read:
Read a book with red or green on the cover :
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
I really enjoyed this book, it was refreshing to read an Indian based fantasy.
4/5
Read a book while listening to holiday music & Read a warm & fuzzy book: :
Quiet Girl in a Noisy World by Debbie Tung
This graphic novel was just the cutest ever. Super fast read and very relatable.
5/5
Read a short book (200-250 pages):
A Quick and Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities by Mady G & JR Zuckerberg
This was a very interesting and informative read. For anyone wishing to learn a bit more about Queer and Trans identities this book is a really good starting point.
3/5
Read a holiday themed book :
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
This is the only challenge I wasn’t able to finish unfortunately. Will probably read it later this month.
