Ever since Margot was born, it’s been just her and her mother. No answers to Margot’s questions about what came before. No history to hold on to. No relative to speak of. Just the two of them, stuck in their run-down apartment, struggling to get along. But that’s not enough for Margot. She wants family. She wants a past. And she just found the key she needs to get it: A photograph, pointing her to a town called Phalene. Pointing her home. Only, when Margot gets there, it’s not what she bargained for. – Synopsis from Goodreads

Ok everyone, where are my 90s people? I’m literally stuck in the 90s – I was a 80s/90s kid and 90s is my obsession. It’s completely my era and most of my favorite movies and music comes from it. No shame! When I heard that Whitney from bookswhitme was hosting a readathon based on the freaking 90s, I just about fell off my chair and then proceeded to go blast some Spice Girls while I geeked over all the challenge boards.

Ok, this post is going up way later because this readathon actually started at midnight last night. I only just learned about it a few hours prior to that and didn’t have the energy to get a post up and ready before that, but I knew I wanted in!

What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill … or else everyone dies.

From Sunday June 14th to Saturday June 20th, a campaign was started to help prove to publishing houses that books by black authors do sell and do matter. The campaign asked readers to purchase two books from black authors and I was MORE than happy to oblige. I buy books by authors of color all year round, and I highly encourage that you all consider doing the same. If you have been supporting #blacklivesmatters, please remember that it’s not a trend and it’s not something that you can just do for a month and you’re all set. This is an all year, every year. Also, it’s great if you bought a couple of books this week, but make sure to actually READ THEM and REVIEW THEM!
Alright, you probably are curious as to what I bought. I’m always excited to show any new books coming my way!
