Down the TBR Hole #3

down the tbr hole

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! This meme was created to try and get a handle on your TBR list and get it down to a more manageable number.  If you see any that you think I should keep or one that you think it’s worth my time, please let me know! It helps greatly! I’m so indecisive about these things and I think I need to read ALL THE BOOKS!

5 books longer

How it works:
Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or more if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?

My TBR is beyond massive, I could easily be buried alive under it LOL I’m going to do 10 books a week for now.  I may increase that as time goes on we shall see.   I’m very excited to start my very first Down the TBR Hole post! Wish me luck!

The Selection (The Selection #1) by Kiera Cass
Ugh! This one is kind of painful.  I have the first three books in this series and a novella bind-up.  When I first joined the online YA community, everyone and their dog was freaking over this book so I bought it.  I actually tried the book this year and was so damn bored.  I probably would’ve liked this when I was younger but I think it’s time to unhaul this series *cries*
Final Decision: Remove

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke
Don’t hate me but I really didn’t care for Inkheart.  I read the entire trilogy and felt like I was pushing constantly.  I am going to give Cornelia one more try I think, so I’ll keep this for now.
Final Decision: Keep

Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast
I liked this book when I was much younger but there have been SO MANY Beauty and the Beast re-tellings lately and it’s rare that one strikes my interest anymore.
Final Decision: Remove

The School for Good and Evil (The School for Good and Evil #1) by Soman Chainani
I’ve heard mixed things about this series but I’ve wanted to read it for a long time now. Maybe next year will be the year? Probably not, but you never know!
Final Decision: Keep

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
I will read this one when I’m ready to rip out my heart.  I usually on read a handful of these types of books a year.
Final Decision: Keep

A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle #1)
This seems to be a very polarizing book.  People either adore it or hate it with a passion.  I have the trilogy, so I’ll get to it at some point.  I’m more interested in Beauty Queens and The Diviners though, to be honest.
Final Decision: Keep!

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
Completely keeping.  Every single year I say that I’m going to read this and Coldest Girl in Coldtown and I don’t.  What is wrong with me, no really?!?!!?
Final Decision: Keep!

Doll Bones by Holly Black
I had every intention of reading Doll Bones this year for my spooky reads in October but when I sat down and picked up my copy (which came from a thrift store), a couple chapters were missing from the beginning.  It made me very cranky so I gave up.  I’ll pick up another copy at some point though or listen to it on audio.
Final Decision: Keep!

The Enchanted Castle by E. Nesbit
E. Nesbit is a popular children’s classic author and I have read a couple of her books and they really didn’t do much for me.  I think it’s time to just say that her books aren’t my thing.
Final Decision: Remove

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I will give you all a minute to judge me for not having read this book yet.  It’s ok, I understand.  I judge me as well.  I have zero reason I haven’t read this book yet.  I have seen the film and it was excellent but I really need to check the book out finally.
Final Decision: Keep (My friend Samm would literally murder me if I removed it)

5 books longer

Final Thoughts:  Woohoo! I removed three this week.  I am not the best person of letting go and I really do think I’ll get to all these books eventually (I live in deep denial), so I’m happy that I got rid of a few this week and they are all ones that I have to unhaul off my shelves.
