Down the TBR Hole #1

down the tbr hole

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! This meme was created to try and get a handle on your TBR list and get it down to a more manageable number.  If you see any that you think I should keep or one that you think it’s worth my time, please let me know! It helps greatly! I’m so indecisive about these things and I think I need to read ALL THE BOOKS!

5 books longer

How it works:
Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
Order on ascending date added.
Take the first 5 (or more if you’re feeling adventurous) books
Read the synopses of the books
Decide: keep it or should it go?

My TBR is beyond massive, I could easily be buried alive under it LOL I’m going to do 10 books a week for now.  I may increase that as time goes on we shall see.   I’m very excited to start my very first Down the TBR Hole post! Wish me luck!

Hollow City (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children #2) by Ransom Riggs
I’ve actually read the first book twice and really enjoyed it.  It was one of the first books to get me interested in the YA category again, after years of being away from it.  I have no idea why I haven’t finished this series yet.
Final Decision: Keep!

Library of Souls (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children #3) by Ransom Riggs
Basically the same as before.  I’ll give this series another go at some point – hopefully.
Final Decision: Keep

Such Wicked Intent (The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein #2) by Kenneth Oppel
This one makes me so frustrated at myself.  I’ve read the first book no less than THREE times and still haven’t picked this one up.  The first wasn’t a great book but I enjoyed it. I’m determined that I’ll someday pick this one up.
Final Decision: Keep

Wildwood: The Wildwood Chronicles #1) by Colin Meloy
This is one I’ve been meaning to get to for about three years now and still haven’t.  I love middle-grade and my friend recently read and loved this one and said it would be a good pick for me.
Final Decision: Keep

Room by Emma Donoghue
I used to really want to read this one but I’ve since seen the movie and I don’t really feel I need to read the book at this point.
Final Decision: Remove

You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day
I added this to my list because I loved Felicia in a little show called The Guild.  I have this one on audio and I think it would be a great listen.
Final Decision: Keep!

Alanna: The First Adventure (Song of the Lionness #1) by Tamora Pierce
This was one my mother’s all time favorite authors and I’m sad to say that I really haven’t read anything by her.  I’m determined to fix that come next year!
Final Decision: Keep!

The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials #1) by Phillip Pullman
I’m actually thinking of reading this one in December, if I can fit it in.  I feel like it’s a sin that I still haven’t read this series.
Final Decision: Keep!

A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet #1) by Madeleine L’Engle
This post is just making me realize how many middle-grade essentials I still haven’t read! I actually recently bought the first three books in a beautiful bind-up collector’s edition from Barnes and Noble.
Final Decision: Keep!

Ice by Sarah Beth Durst
This book has been on my radar for years and I think it’s because I loved East by Eddith Pattou so much and this one gives me though vibes.  However, the reviews are pretty mediocre and after a few years of looking at this one, I still haven’t bit the bullet and bought it.
Final Decision: Remove

5 books longer

Final Thoughts: so I removed two out of the ten.  Not as many as I would have liked but it feels good to slowly start going through the dreaded TBR list.  If you think I should keep either of the two books I removed, let me know!
