December 2018 TBR and Beyond Schedule

Hey Beyonders!

We have a fun December planned on our Facebook Group – TBR and Beyond.  We not only have the game and group reads, you’ll also see lots of holiday bookish games going in the main group to get you in the holiday spirit.

You need to be a member of our group, to join any of these events.  If you are not, that’s ok! Just follow this link to TBR and Beyond and sign up.

This month’s reading challenge is back by very popular demand! That’s right we are bringing back the TBR Board Game! The rules are simple and you can see them on the event HERE.   This will run for two months, like the summer one – December and January.  This way everyone has lots of time to try and finish their board.  You do NOT have to fill out every square – you roll a dice and see where you land, just like any other board game! There will also be a nice prize, as per usual.

As always, we have a selection of monthly group reads.  December we are reading:

december group read

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan – This read started in November and the discussion is on December 8th and 9th.  Trigger warnings in the event.

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi – This read is part of my on-going set of group reads called “Buddy Read With Mel,” where we work on a duology or trilogy.  Great way to get some of those backlogged TBR’s finally out of the way.  The discussion for this one takes place on December 14th and 15th.  REMINDER: Roshani is visiting TBR and Beyond for a live chat in January (I know, we can’t believe it either!!).

A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi – We’ll be starting the sequel to The Star Touched Queen on December 16th and the discussion will take place on January 11th and 12th.

The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand – Our members wanted a holiday read this month and we several books to a poll and this was the winner.  This starts on December 1st and discussion is on ???

We do not do this every month but we are also hosting TWO group movie watches in December.  To take part you must own or rent a copy of the movie.  We all get into a group chat and we all watch the movie together.  We had a great time doing this at Halloween.  It’s a great way to get to not only know us better but to make new booksih friends.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be on December 18th.  More details on the group.

Krampus will be on December 11th.  More details on the group.  This is a HORROR movie.  I thought it would be fun after the Halloween watch along went so well and I got many requests for this one.  This one is probably not going to scare anyone, it falls much more on the side of comedy then anything else.
