Yes, this post is overly late. I should’ve done this at the end of June and I’m getting around to it the middle of August. As well! I really want to do it, so I’m going to do it all the same. I’ll only count the books I’ve read till the end of June.
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2021
Tough one right off the bat! I’m going to go with Fable by Adrienne Young. I don’t know – I just found these a lot of fun and pulled me out of a YA Fantasy slump.
Best Sequel You Read in 2021
This is a pretty boring answer, since I’m going with the sequel to Fable – Nakesake by Adrienne Young
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To
Easy peasy – Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. The only reason I haven’t read this one yet, is because TBR and Beyond Bookclub is reading it this month and I wanted to save it.
Most Anticipated Release of the Second Half of 2021
I’m obsessed with Caraval, so this is another easy one for me. I have to go with Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. I currently have two editions coming, but that could get higher.
Had to think on this one from a minute, then I had my aha! moment. I’ve been reading through the Lady Janes series this year and My Lady Jane is one of my all-time favorite reads – I’ve read it 3 times now. I finally continued on with the series and was super disappointed with My Plain Jane. It was ok, but I found myself bored at parts and just not really that invested in any of the characters.
Ok, for this question I’m going to choose a middle-grade – Amari and the Night Brothers by BB Alston. I debated if I should choose this one because I did honestly think it would be fantastic. I guess I just didn’t expect to love it to the degree I did.
Newest Fictional Crush
Gotta go with my man Hawke from the From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m complete trash for him – I make no apologies.
Newest Favorite Character
Eek! Another hard one. Evie Evergreen comes to mind from Evie Evergreen, Semi- Magical Witch by Julie Abe. Evie was just so lovable, flawed, optimistic and caring. I loved how good of a friend she was to everyone. This book made me so happy and gave me all the Studio Ghilbi vibes.
Book That Made You Cry
I haven’t cried over many books this year so far, but The Girl From the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag got the water works going a little. Beautiful, sweet queer graphic novel.
Book That Makes You Happy
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. Honestly any of the four from the series light up my mood instantly. I am in love with Charlie and Nick’s sweet relationship. I will never be read for this graphic novel series to end! I’ve read the first one at least 3 or 4 times now.
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far
Most of the really beautiful books I’m looking forward to are pre-ordered, so I haven’t gotten them yet and some I’m not positive what they will look like in the end. I guess my answer would be any of the Fairyloot books that I’ve received this year.
What Book Do I Need to Read By The End of the Year
ALL OF THEM! Best get to reading!
