Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!
This week’s (October 8th, 2019) topic: Character traits we love. We decided to go another way with this week TTT and share with you Our Favorite Graphic Novels.
Hyberbole and a Half by Allie Brosh
Probably my favorite on this list because it’s the one that I can personally relate to the most. If you’ve ever suffered from crippling depression and/or anxiety this is a book you MUST read. It made my cry with laughter while still being poignant and authentic to the illnesses. I’ve read this book many times and I’ll read it many more.
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
Adorableness, there isn’t much else to say. Two boys in the sweetest, most healthy relationship ever and it just warms my heart to no end and I would read 100 books from this series, it just makes me feel happy.
Saga by Brian K. Vaughan
Did you really think you’d get a top graphic novels without at least one of us putting this series? This sci-fi/fantasy has a mass follow for a reason. It’s creative, weird af, and has some incredible characters.
I Hate Fairyland by Skottie Young
This is very my brand. Weird, gory and some awesome geek satire! I wish the series had ended stronger but overall I loved it.
You can see my NON-Spoiler review on the whole series HERE.
Locke and Key by Joe Hill
I wasn’t sure which one to put here. There are a bunch that could go here. I am about to read the full series though and I did love the first book – so let’s go with this one! Creepy and weird and my introduction to Joe Hill’s writing.
The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkmann
I’ve been reading The Walking Dead for many years as watching the show too. I just love this one so much. My favourite thing about it is how it focuses on the people and that the walkers are now just background noise now. It shows human behaviour and reactions in extreme situations.
Paper Girls by Brian K Vaughan
Paper Girls is very Stranger Things but with girls. It’s weird and fun and
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman
Both Melanie and I had to put this one on our list. How cute is this graphic novel? It’s just pure perfections for me and it will give you all the feels.
Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon
I love Joss Whedon. I find that everything he does is gold. Now when I saw he did mini-series of the X-Men I just had to grab it. This story focuses on one of my favourite character in the X-Men: Kitty Pride.
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North
Squirrel Girl is just the best character. She’s strong, fun and just a big ball of sunshine. I love following her adventures with Tippy Toe.
