We are super excited to be participating in the fifth round of Contemporary-A-Thon. It runs from September 23rd to the 29th. This is our second time participating in this.  Both Mireille and I have been branching out a little bit in contemporary this year.  Neither of us are generally big contemporary readers, but we both ended up buying a ton this year.  This is a great challenge to get us to make a dent in our contemporary tbr!

This read-a-thon is being hosted by four wonderful ladies:

Julie from Pages and Pens  – Chelsea from chelseadolling reads – Natasha from myreadingisodd – Melanie from MeltotheAny

IG: Contemporaryathon

This reading challenge has seven challenges for the week and we are allowed to double (or more) up on any of the challenges.  Here’s what we are *hoping* to read.

I’ve got an ambitious list, so we’ll see how far I actually get! Wish me luck!

➽1. Read a 2019 Release
I’ve been dying to read Well Met by Jenn Deluca, so that is what I’ll be doing for this prompt.

➽2. Read a contemporary with yellow on the cover
This was an easy pick for me – The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, it’s about time I gave this popular romance writing duo a try!

➽3. Read a diverse contemporary
One I picked up this summer and have been really curious about – I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn

➽ 4. Read a contemporary with an illustrated cover
I have been saving Heartstopper Vol 2 by Alice Oseman, just for this occasion and I’m DYING to read it.  I loved the first one with my entire being.

➽ 5. Read a dark/hard hitting contemporary
I’ve been wanting to read this for a couple years now and it’s still sitting on my shelf, so now is the perfect time to pull this one out! Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson.

➽ 6. Read a contemporary with plants on the cover
This one is so not a typical pick for me but for whatever reason it just looks so adorable and fun to me – Don’t Date Rosa Santos by Nina Moreno.  I’ve had my eye on this for months and I picked it up this summer.

➽ 7. Read a contemporary the is beloved by a member of the booktube community (shout out the member)
One of my besties, the lovely Samm from Sassenach the Book Wizard has been getting into romance lately and she’s recommended me a few but none so much as The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang.  I just so happen to own that book, so I’ll be checking out her rec – we normally have pretty similar tastes, so we shall see!

  1. I’m reading 4 books for this Read-a-Thon, Frankly in Love; Red, White and Royal Blue; American Royals and Permanent Record. If I have time I might read Slay for one of the prompts but I’m also participating in another read-a-thon too.

  2. Ooh, this looks like so much fun! I’m really tempted to join but as I’ve got The Priory of the Orange Tree going right now, I don’t know if that’d realistically happen 😂 Good luck with the challenge!
