Top Ten Tuesday #43: Our Favourite 2019 Book Covers

top ten tuesday

Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.  We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!

This week’s (September 17th, 2019) topic: Favorite Things to Eat/Drink While Reading.   Neither of us really eats while we read, so we weren’t feeling this topic.  We decided to do Our Favourite 2019 Book Covers.

5 books longer

This is hard one because covers are so beautiful nowadays, which is great for us readers – means our shelves are more beautiful than ever! I will not be including any middle-grade novels because I’ll be doing a separate post for that in Middle-Grade Monday, later this year.

Wilder Girls by Rory Power
This might be my favourite this year – it caught my eye right away and I haven’t stopped starring since.  It’s just stunning and something I hadn’t really seen before.  Perfection.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
It’s even more beautiful in person – the rich, bold colors.  The stunning woman of color front and center.  I fell in love with this cover the second I saw it.  I still haven’t read it yet, but I hope to soon.  I’m hoping it’s just as magical as it’s cover is.

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He
Oh my god – just look at this cover? I’m obsessed with it.  I can’t think of another cover that looks like this one among YA books.  I love the Chinese inspired artwork, one of the most beautiful this year for sure.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E Harrow
It’s just classically beautiful and speaks to my inner old lady with everything flowers and looking sort of antique.  It’s an aesthetic we’ve seen before but it is done to perfection here and I’ll never be tired of this look.

We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Meija
The photo doesn’t do this book cover justice – the colors just pop right out at you and the spine is beautiful as well.  What excites me even more is that they sequel is going to be the remaining colors of the rainbow, so when you put them together…. How freaking amazing will that look on a shelf? I can’t wait to find out next year!

Honorable Mentions: Song of the Dead by Sarah Glenn Marsh, Treason of Thorns by Laura Weymouth, Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi, Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan, Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson, and The Raven’s Tale by Cat Winters.

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
I find this cover adorable. It’s so atmospheric and sets such a great tone for the book. The colour scheme is so cool. Just love everything about it.

Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff
Was there any doubt that Darkdawn was going to make my list? This is such an amazing cover and it relates to the book so well.

The Beautiful by Rene Ahdieh
This one isn’t as impressive as some of the other’s but I like the feel to it. It’s simple but if I would pass this book by in the bookstore I would definitely pick it up.

Gravemaidens by Kelly Coon
Have you seen this cover? It’s so beautiful. It gives me such a fairytale vibe.

Reverie by Ryan La Sala
This one was supposed to come out next year but it’s been moved up to December. So happy cause now I can include it in my list. I adore this cover it’s so beautiful and blue. Can’t wait to see it in real.

Honorable Mentions: Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan, Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson, The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owens, Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland

  1. Omg I absolutely LOVE all of these covers 😍 They’re so gorgeous! I totally agree that With the Fire on High is even more beautiful in person — especially the naked cover! I recently just bought all the Nevernight books (coz I just got into them) and I’m SO excited to get them. These covers with Mia have really grown on me lol Great TTT!

      1. Ooh, I started Nevernight at the start of this month and I just couldn’t put it down. It was SO good. I’ve just finished Godsgrave last week, but I don’t think I’m ready for Darkdawn 😅 Hope you enjoy these reads when you get to them!

  2. Great covers. I love the cover to Descendant of the Crane. I’m so glad I read your post because I have an ARC of Reverie and Netgalley still has the wrong pub date up. I schedule my ARC reviews based on the pub date so I had to move that one up.
