Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!
This week’s (August 27th, 2019) topic: This week’s prompts had to do with borrowing books or getting stuff out of the library. Neither of us felt like doing that topic so , we went with something completely different this week. Top Ten 2019 ARCS We Are Most Looking Forward to Reading
The Babysitter’s Coven by Kate Williams (Coming September 17th, 2019)
I actually just started my earc of this one today and have only read maybe a chapter but am already in love. This is being marketed as an Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy – that’s all I needed to know for it to make my most anticipated list this year.
Girls of Storm and Shadow (Girls of Paper and Fire #2) by Natasha Ngan (Coming November 5th, 2019)
I am very excited to say that I got my hands on a physical arc of this one and I’ll probably be getting to it in September. The first book made my top ten list last year, I’m sure this one won’t disappoint either.
Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender (Coming November 12th, 2019)
This wasn’t really on my radar until a publisher was kind enough to offer me a physical arc of this and then I looked it up and wow I would’ve missed out. This sounds fantastic and the cover is stunning. I don’t think I’ve ever read a Caribbean inspired fantasy, I’m really looking forward to it.
A Tale of Magic… by Chris Colfer (Coming October 1st, 2019)
Yes everyone, Chris is releasing a new series. I didn’t know about this one either until a publisher reached out to me, so now I have this physical arc waiting to be read as well. I must admit that I was actually not a fan of his series, Land of Stories. It just didn’t work for me but I really want to give this one a shot. I’ll be reading it next month and it will be great for Middle Grade Monday.
Resurrection Girls by Ava Morgyn (Coming October 1st, 2019)
I requested this earc on Edelweiss awhile back and I have to admit it was the title and cover that drew me in. I still know very little about it. I know it has some magical realism, which can be hit or miss for me and I know the main girl likes to write men on death row (everyone has hobbies I guess LOL). I think it will be a treat. Probably won’t get to this till October, but might get to it next month – we shall see.
Tarnished Are the Stars by Rosiee Thor
I’ve talked about this book before, I am super excited for it cause it has an aro/ace character and of LGBTQ+ rep. It also seems very steampunk which I feel we don’t get nearly enough of in YA. I’m hoping to get on the blog tour of this one since I am an ownvoice reviewer.
Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland
I was hoping to get to this one earlier this summer but unfortunately, I failed. I really want to read this one cause it looks so different and interesting. And again it as an asexual representation which I can’t wait to see. We are getting so many ace rep this year and I am loving it.
Lifestyles of Gods and Monsters by Emily Roberson
OK I am trash for Greek and Roman myths. So of course when I heard about this book and saw I could grab it on Edelweiss I just had to. I love the modern twist that the author seems to have given the myth of Theseus and Ariadne.
War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi
They had me at futuristic Black Panther-inspired Nigeria. I love that more books are starting to explore more diverse settings like Africa and Asia. They have such a rich culture and we need to hear these stories more. Plus this cover, how gorgeous is this.
The Memory Thief by Lauren Mansy
I was first drawn to this book because of the cover. It’s absolutely stunning. The concept of the story seems very original to me. I can’t wait to see how this one turns out.
What are some of 2019 ARCS you are most looking forward toreading? Let us know in the comments!

Great list! I really want to read The Babysitters Coven and Beyond the Black Door, and I’m hoping to finally read Girls of Paper and Fire soon so I can prepare for the sequel. 🙂

Oh I loved Girls of Paper and Fire. It’s a slow burn but I just loved the characters and I think there will be a lot more action in the second book!

The Babysitters Coven sounds so much fun! I just found out about it recently and I neeeed it lol And the Conquered — definitely such a gorgeous cover and one to look forward to! I haven’t had the best luck with modern retellings of Greek myths, so Lifestyles of Gods and Monsters sounds promising!

Right? Babysitter’s Coven just seems like such a freaking fun book. The Conquered is prob my fave snake cover so far this year – they seem to be doing a lot of snakes lol

I’m so curious about The Memory Thief. What an attention-grabbing title it has…and the cover is gorgeous, too.

Lots of great arcs on your lists! I did read The Babysitter’s Coven already. I still have to read Girls, Resurrection, and Memory Thief. Have you noticed all the books this year with girl/girls in the cover? It’s really odd. I know it’s a common word, but it’s really jumping out at me in 2019. I read 4 in a row last month.

Oh good, I hope you enjoyed it. LOL no, I hadn’t but I suppose that is true. I think a lot of words are commonly used each year.

I think you’re right. It was just weird to me. It’s really jumped out over the past couple months.

I would love to get the sequel to The Brilliant Death but I have a lot of stuff going on right now and I’m not sure if I want to rush through it so maybe it’s better to just wait and read it with everyone once it’s released… Other than that, I want to request Ink in the Blood because magic tattoos? Hell Yeah.
Great post! Tarnished are the Stars is something I’m considering as well! (But, as I’ve said, I need to work on my time management first 😀 )

I don’t think I know very much about those books but I’ve seen Brilliant Death around and it looks cool. I completely feel you about time management. It’s always a struggle and I always feel it gets away from me.

If you’re into audiobooks, TBD has the best narrator I ever listened to! Her accent alone is half the story!
Yeah, I’m in this dumb in-between when it’s just everything all at once so I’m trying to focus on important things first but it sucks

This is a great list! Queen of the Conquered sounds amazing! That cover looks a bit similar to Queen of Nothing cover. I’m so looking forward to Tarnished are the Stars! I hope you enjoy it, Mireille!

Yeah, there are a few covers this year with snakes on them. I think this one is my favorite so far – it pops really nice against the other colors. I’m actually scared to death of snakes in real life though LOL

THE BABYSITTERS COVEN is an eye-catching title and QUEEN OF THE CONQUERED has an incredibly eye-catching cover. The former is one I’m really looking forward to reading. The latter I hadn’t heard from until now, but it sounds intriguing. I hope you love all these!
Happy TTT!
