Ok, the last couple of months I have been soooo late on putting up my Owlcrate Unboxing. I was determined to get it up in time this month, so here I am. This is Owlcrate’s AUGUST 2019 box. If you haven’t gotten yours and don’t want to see spoilers, then go no further. If you want to see my thoughts on everything this month, then keep going!
Overview of everything we got in August’s OC box.
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig Owlcrate Exclusive SIGNED Edition – I’m pretty excited Owlcrate picked this one. It wasn’t completely on my radar, I knew about it but I was still kind of on the fence about it but I’ve heard a lot of good things since, so I’m glad this was the August pick. The exclusive cover is a very subtle change but I like it much more – it is a richer green, very fitting. I also took a picture of the end pages (which aren’t exclusive) because they are just so pretty. I love when books have stuff like that.
Scorpio Races Pencil Case – I haven’t read this book yet but the case is beautiful and a little different from stuff we normally get, so I’m pleased. It’s also cool that they chose Maggie’s lesser known book for the fandom.
Sea Witch Tea – It looks good I guess. I don’t drink tea or coffee but maybe I will finally try one. Otherwise, meh.
Little Mermaid Bath Salts – Oh my god, this stuff smells amazing. It’s reminds me of watermelon bubblegum, but better. Yes, I’m terrible at describing scents LOL
Daughter of the Pirate King Wooden Bookmark – One of my fave items in the box. This is a fave book of mine and the bookmark is so beautiful and detailed!
Owlcrate Monthly Enamel pin – Very cute, goes very well with House of Salt and Sorrows.
Owlcrate Tea Light Lantern – I am not thrilled about getting this at all. Yes, it’s pretty but it’s also super basic and I could pick it up just about anywhere – including the dollar store. I will likely use it on IG or something, it’s cute but my issue is that I buy these sub boxes for items that I can’t just go pick up anywhere on anyday. This doesn’t have a cool pattern or anything special about it to me and they didn’t even give us some cute tea lights to go with it. This is a complete miss for me. It might be an unpopular opinion, I’m not sure but meh…
Overall, this was an ok box for me. I did really like a lot of the items, but because the lantern took up most of the room and I am feeling rather salty about that item – I can only give this month an ok, not great rating. I will say they did a great job at staying on theme – maybe if the lantern had like a lighthouse or something cut into it then I would’ve been more impressed.
I am excited for the spooky Halloween box next month though – I think I will enjoy it much more.
