Top Ten Tuesday #35: Favourite Characters so Far this Year

top ten tuesday

Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.  We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!

This week’s (July 2nd, 2019) topic is:  Character Freebie. I decided to share with you my Favourite Characters so Far this Year. For this, I decided to choose only 2019 releases. So here it goes!

Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan
Ok first off this book is so amazing and you should all read it. Second, Malachiasz is my new boo! Imagine a mix between the Darkling and Kaz Brekker, how amazing is that right? He’s such a well written grey character. I need the second book like yesterday cause I need my best boy back.

When summer ends by Jessica Pennington
Aiden is the ultimate crush. He’s such a sweetheart that you can’t help but gush over him.

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
I just finished The Devouring Gray last week and OMG!!!! I didn’t even know how much I wanted that book. I adored Violet she was a tough cookie that went about everything her way.

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
OK, again one from The Devouring Gray but this book was so good. I loved Isaac. He’s this kind of tortured soul that you want to root for. He reminded me of Ronan from The Raven Boys. A character that’s doing his best with what he has.

We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
Daniela has such an amazing character arc. She grows so much during the story. She is proof that no matter where you are from you can do great things.

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller
This is probably the character with which I identified the most in all this list. A lot of her journey is about discovering who she is and realizing that she is valid.

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller
Could he be more precious? I just love that he’s always there for Rasmira from the moment they met. Tricia Levenseller always knows how to write great characters.

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston
Jessica was a surprise for me. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy her story as much as I did. But I thought that there were a lot of great messages passed in this book and especially with Jessica’s story.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
Zofia is such a precious character. I felt so much for her throughout the story and can’t wait to see her again in the next one.

The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson
I just finished this one and I must say Althia went straight to my heart. Her character was so opened from the start. I just loved how she decided to fight back and overcome her struggles.

  1. I’ve been hearing mixed things about The Devouring Gray, but what you said about the characters made me really want to read it! Now I can’t wait to meet them.
And Malachiasz really was the best. Great list!

    1. It’s an amazing book and the parallels you can pull between this fictional almost dystopian world and our own is so on point. I felt that it was a very important book, much like Girls of Paper and Fire. I find it a cross between that book actually and The Handmaid’s Tale.

  2. Great list!! Also all of the fan art was so beautiful 😍 ahhh I’m so jealous because you literally read all of the books at the top of my TBR for this year! The Devouring Gray sounds amazing and I really want to know what is up with this Isaac character because everyone raves about him! So excited to read The Princess and the Fangirl as well because it sounds so cute and I’m so here for wlw books 💕

    1. The debut novels this year are really killing it. Every debut I read were almost all 5 stars for me. I make it a priority to get as many debuts as I can. You have to meet Isaac, he is such a quiet (even if he is quite loud at times) thunder in that book. Think Ronan Lynch. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Geekerella and thought The Fangirl and the Princess was so much better. The theme that Ashley decided to take on in this book were so important and current.

  3. The first names that come to mind are Elisabeth from Sorcery of Thorns and Vasya from The Bear and The Nightingale. I just finished both books recently and loved the stories and these two strong female characters. Great take on today’s TTT!

  4. Oooh, favorite character posts are fun! I haven’t read Wicked Saints yet, so the fact that you start with that makes me wanna cry. T_T That’s pretty high up on my “must buy soon” list. Violet and Isaac from The Devouring Gray were fantastic characters! Violet was so badass and refused to be stopped, and I loved Isaac’s complicated layers (despite obviously trying to be a not horrible person). I think there’ll be more Isaac and his backstory in book two and I cannot wait!
