We are super excited to be participating in this edition of Summer-a-thon. It runs from June 21st to the 27th.

This read-a-thon is being hosted by five wonderful ladies:

Amy from AcourtofCrownsandQuills – Heather from Bookables – Jen from PinotandPages – Aimee from AimeeReads – Melanie from MeltotheAny

This reading challenge has six challenges for the week and we are allowed to double (or more) up on any of the challenges.  Here’s what we are *hoping* to read.

I always try to read quite diversely but since it’s Pride Month, I will be trying to pick out as many LGBTQIA+ books as possible.  It will also help for the game challenge in the TBR and Beyond group – we are doing a Pride Word Search!

➽1. Read a Beachy Read

Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) by Lev. A.C. Rosen
This book just hit my radar.  It was a recommendation on Chelseadolling Reads Youtube channel and it just sounds perfect.  Looks like a fairly light, funny and VERY sex positive YA novel.  I’m dying to read this one.  Honestly, it’s hard for me to wait on this one – I want to read it NOW!

➽2. Read a book with sunrise colours on the cover

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire
I still haven’t read this yet – what even! I think this fits perfectly for the challenge and it’s a nice quick read as well! I don’t want to have too many longer reads – I’m not a fast enough reader for that LOL

➽3. Read a book with roadtrip/travelling or vacation

I Wanna Be Where You Are By Kristina Forrest
This looks so freaking adorable – I can’t even! No, I don’t know what that means, but AH! I think this will be a really quick, and sweet read.  I’m not expecting to have my mind blown but I am expecting to have a smile on my face.

➽ 4. Read a book set in summer

Summer of Salt by Katrina Leno
This was the first book that came to mind when I saw this challenge.  Kind of seems perfect.  It’s under 300 pages and takes place in the summer and has some cool magical realism elements.  I recently read Katina’s latest book, You Must Not Miss and really enjoyed it.

➽ 5. Read a book with food on the cover

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
I was debating between this one and Hot Dog Girl but I think I’m leaning toward this one more.  One of my favorite covers of the year and it doesn’t sound like a book that I’ve really read before.  Dreams of culinary school – I’m in.

➽ 6. Drink your favourite summer drink while reading

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki
Had to throw a nice quick graphic novel in there! I love the cover and artwork.  I don’t know a ton about this GN, other than it’s about a female/female relationship that I believe is quite toxic.

I’m really not sure I’m going to get to all of these but I do hope to get at least 2 done.

➽1. Read a Beachy Read

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann
I’ve been meaning to read this one for a while now and this seems like the perfect occasion since it’s still Pride month too.

➽2. Read a book with sunrise colours on the cover

The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
I’ve been meaning to get to this one for a little while now. It seems like a pretty short quick read so fingers crossed I can get this done.

➽3. Read a book with roadtrip/travelling or vacation

The Storm Crow by Kalyn Josephson
Ok I know this is a stretch but travelling by crow is still travelling, lol. I am so excited to read this one. I got this arc in a Fairyloot box and I am scheduled in the blog tour.

➽ 4. Read a book set in summer

The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
I am doubling up on this one.

➽ 5. Read a book with food on the cover

The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding
OK tripling up lol

➽ 6. Drink your favourite summer drink while reading

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann
I’m planning on doing the audiobook of this and I usually listen to it in my car on my way to work. I always grab a coffee before getting on the highway, well an ice coffee since it’s the summer.

  1. omg–it’s genius to include Hot Dog Girl for something with food on the cover!! And I read the first few pages of I Wanna Be Where You Are and I had to stop myself from reading the whole thing because it seemed like the perfect light and fluffy read with an enemies to lovers romance! I’ll get back to it soon though! Also, I just can’t get over how beautiful the cover for The Storm Crow is 😍😍
