Can you believe that it’s already the mid year? Oh my gosh it went by so fast. To check on how we’ve been doing so far, we decided to do the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag. This tag has been floating around for quite awhile and I’m honestly not positive exactly where it started but thank you to whoever created this one! It’s a great one!
What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2019?
Melanie – Ah! This is already impossible! I’m cheating and going with three! Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven, Finale by Stephanie Garber and also, Wicked Saints by Emily Duncan.
Mireille – Oh my gosh so many good ones but since I have to pick one I’m going to go with Wicked Saints by Emily A Duncan, it was such an amazing book.
What has been your favourite sequel of the first half of the year?
Melanie – Finale by Stephanie Garber for sure.
Mireille – oh umm, I haven’t read a lot of sequels yet but I’ll go with King of Fools by Amanda Foody.
Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet but you’re really excited to?
Melanie – Yeah, like everything. I’ll go with Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to it yet. I have a feeling it will make my best of the year list.
Mireille – So many buuuttt I’m going to say Aurora Rising cause it’s from my favourite duo Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Melanie – Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi and Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan
Mireille – Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff. Need. It. Now.
What is your biggest disappointment so far?
Melanie – Spectacle by Jodi Lynn Zdrok – I thought it would be a five star for me and it was just really forgettable and not something I’m likely to continue on with.
Mireille – Once and Future and I am so sad cause I wanted to love it.
What is your biggest surprise so far?
Melanie – Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven – Book is freaking hilarious and extremely important. I knew it would be good, but I didn’t have a clue HOW good it would be.
Mireille – The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Geekerella but this second book was just so amazing and funny and sweet. I just adored it
What is your favourite new to you or debut author?
Melanie – Emily A. Duncan, hands down.
Mireille – Emily A Duncan, I will for sure follow what books will come out next.
What is your favourite fictional crush from this year?
Melanie – Oh hmmm I’m blanking on this one. Dante and Julian from the Caraval series are pretty hot.
Mireille – Malachiasz from Wicked Saints, gave me some Darkling vibes and maybe a little of Kaz too.
What is your new favourite character?
Melanie – Oh, I don’t want to pickkkkk Lol The main three from Wicked Saints maybe. This is too hard a question though LOL
Mireille – Rasmira from Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller. I saw so much of myself in her, not the being a kickass viking warrior but her fears and insecurities.
A book that made you cry?
Melanie – How to Make a Wish by Ashley Herring Blake
Mireille – Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
A book that made you happy?
Melanie – HeartStopper (Heartstopper #1) by Alice Oseman
Mireille – When Summer Ends by Jessica Pennington. Such a fun summery book.
Your favourite book to movie/tv show that you’ve seen so far?
Melanie – I mean I guess Game of Thrones, even though I’m mad at it LOL
Mireille – oh dear, not sure I saw a lot of movies based on books. I rewatched the Harry Potter movies, not sure if that works lol.
What is the most beautiful book that you have bought?
Melanie – In the last six months? Probably Throne of Glass Collector’s Edition and We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Meija
Mireille – Again lol I really like Wicked Saints. From the dust jacket to the undercover it’s really a beautiful book.
What is your favourite post that you have written so far this year?
Melanie – Easily my Game of Thrones posts. They had a lot of views and were a lot of fun to write.
Mireille – I really liked my review of The Fifth Season by NK Nemenis.
What are 6 books that you want to read by the end of the year?
Melanie – Six of Crows duology, Sawkill Girls, Tiger Queen, Teeth in the Mist, Wilder Girls and Sorcery of Thorns.
Mireille – Darkdawn, A Touch of Gold, The Wicked King, Aurora Rising, Grim Lovelies and Sawkill Girls.

It’s hard to narrow it down but it’s just for fun anyway. I change my mind on this stuff on a daily basis lol

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’m very indecisive by nature, so I am horrible with choosing anything. Even something as simple as dinner.

Thank you so much for the tag. I was going to do this post anyways, but now I don’t have to pretend I was tagged, haha. Sorcery of Thorns is so good. I’m sure you will enjoy. I’m really curious about Wicked Saints and plan to read it soon. We Set the Dark on Fire has such a pretty cover. I really love the sequel cover as well. Hope the rest of your 2019 is incredible!

I haven’t read Wicked Saints yet, and now it makes me so sad because you both loved it so much. T_T I need to hurry up and order it and rectify that, especially since there’s a sequel coming out and I can’t suffer from FOMO twice over. xD I haven’t read either Sorcery of Thorns or Aurora Rising, but I agree with both of you that I want to read them!

Loved reading your answers! I’ve had my article in draft for a couple of weeks now because I haven’t found the right inspiration yet to finish it, lol. Some questions are really difficult, or sometimes I feel like I’m talking about the same things in multiple articles seeing there’s been a TTT with fave upcoming releases and things like that. So… I keep pushing off publishing this one haha. Maybe at the beginning of July.

Haha yes absolutely, I also feel like a lot of my answers between this and TTT were the same.
