Top Ten Tuesday #25: Quotes from Favorite Badass Bookish Heroines

Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.  We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!

This week’s (April 30th, 2019) topic is: Inspirational/Thought-Provoking Book Quotes.  I’m not really someone who cares much about this topic, so I changed it to Quotes from Favorite Badass Bookish Heroines.

Mirielle is on hiatus this for May due to unforeseen circumstances, so I’ll be doing this myself this month.   Let’s get this started!

“I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want.” – Alossa, Daughter of the Pirate King

“I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal. I was a survivor, and I was strong. I would not be weak, or helpless again. I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.”  – Feyre, A Court of Mist and Fury

“I don’t want an easy life. I want a meaningful one.”  – Lei, Girls of Paper and Fire

“Every locked door has a key. Every problem has a solution.” – Emika, Warcross

“If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.” – Jude, The Cruel Prince

“I am frequently underestimated. I think it’s because I’m short.”  – Kady, Illuminae

“I loved the feeling of discovery, of not knowing how much I wanted something until I had discovered its absence.” – Maya, Star-Touched Queen

“Cannons only meant one thing: blood magic. And blood magic meant Tranavians.” – Nadya, Wicked Saints

“I’m Odessa of Grenwyr, and the dead answer to me.” – Odessa, Song of the Dead

“They’d branded me like some kind of animal. Lower than an animal. A number.”  – Paige, The Bone Season

That’s it for this week! Did you participate in this week’s TTT? Be sure to let me know!

  1. Great list! I’ve wanted to read Daughter of the Pirate King for a long time, seems like it’s a good one. You have chosen some great quotes for this 🙂

  2. I’ve heard a lot about Wicked Saints but I haven’t decided if I should read it! These are great quotes and it reminded me a lot of why I like so many of the characters on this list!

  3. Wow these are awesome quotes. And the quote from A Court of Mist and Fury is so similar to that from Gone With the Wind. Maybe?
