Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!
This week’s (April 16th, 2019) topic is: Rainy Day Reads
Since there are two of us running this blog (Melanie and Mireille), we’re going to break these memes up between us and each pick five!
I think a lot of people are going to go for mystery with this one and I’m one of them! I have a mix of Middle-Grade, YA and Adult – something for everyone!
City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
I’m a huge Schwab fan and this is just a really cool ghost story with a little mystery mixed in. Who doesn’t love a good afternoon with a nice paranormal story?

Tilly and the Book Wanderers (Pages and Co#1) by Anna James
This book could literally define COZY – it’s such a cool story that takes place in a family owned bookstore and yes, there is actually

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
I think Agatha invented the cozy mystery genre LOL If you haven’t read any Agatha, this is a good place to start. One of my favorites of her.
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
This ties in mystery with a little horror but nothing too scary. It takes place at a summer camp and the plot twists are a fun as hell.

People Like Us by Dana Mele
If you like a bunch of flawed girls with some morally grey consciences doing some pretty despicable things than you need to check this out. Great but devilish characters and you could easily read this in an afternoon. It’s very addicting.
I don’t know why I associate rainy days with mystery books but I do. So, here are four of my favourite mysteries and one quirky book that has a little mystery element to it.
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
I loved this gender bent retelling of Sherlock Holmes. The characters are in their way very true to what the originals are. And I do like that they author decided to make these Holmes and Watson descendants of the originals, it just makes it more real I guess.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
Truly Devious is another great little mystery. It was just so fun and full of twist. I just got the second book and can’t wait to continue this series.
Jackaby by William Ritter
I’m pretty late to the Jackaby books, I just read it last month and I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t at all what I was expecting. It has mystery and a bit of fantasy too which is just a great mix.
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
Who doesn’t like a good Agatha Christie book? This is probably one of the most known ones but I really enjoyed it, a lot more than the last movie which was rubish in my view. Check out the audiobooks one is read by Dan Stevens and the other by Kenneth Branagh!!!
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I love these books. They are so unique to me and fun and a bit creepy. Again don’t watch the movie it’s just utter nonsense compared to the books.
I’ve never read “A Study in Charlotte,” but added it to my list this week because it seems fitting of this topic! Also curious about “Truly Devious” after that splash it cause in the bookworm scene (which is why it’s now on my shelf), and “Jackaby” has been on my shelf for WAY too long. 🙂

I haven’t read the other two yet myself but Jackaby was amazing. Totally worth picking up.

I haven’t read an Agatha Christie book but I know I need to! I love mysteries and thrillers. People Like Us seems like something up my alley. And I love Riley Sager! Final Girls hooked me in so much!

People Like Us was so addicting! I didn’t think about it while writing my post, but I can definitely see it as a rainy day read too, with that mysterious atmosphere (…and all that backstabbing). Great list!

Agatha Christie is really popular this week. I really need to read something by VE Schwab… perhaps I need to put one of her books on my summer TBR!

I wasn’t a massive fan of A Study in Charlotte, but City of Ghosts is on my TBR and I can’t wait to read it. It rains A LOT in Edinburgh, so it really is a perfect rainy day book.

I loved Truly Devious! City of Ghosts, Study in Charlotte, and Miss Peregrine are also pretty good. I have a copy of Jackaby that I still need to read and I haven’t read very much of Agatha Cristie. I should probably fix that the next rainy day!

Agatha Christie is a must for me on rainy days, it’s on my list too! And I agree, I wasn’t a fan of the movie at all.

It was such a let down with so many amazing actors. I’m not sure what I felt didn’t work for me, I guess they changed it a bit too much.
