Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!
This week’s (February 5th, 2019) topic is: Upcoming Releases We Are On the Fence About.
Since there are two of us running this blog (Melanie and Mireille), we’re going to break these memes up between us and each pick five!
My TBR is out-of-control. I easily have 500+ unread books on my shelves right now, so I’m going to try and be a little pickier with the books I pick up and series I start (wish my luck!). There are actually quite a few books this year that I’m still debating if I care enough to read.
Enchantée by Gita Trelease
I have no idea why this one isn’t piquing my interest the way it seems to be others but I’m really on the fence about if I care to read it or not.
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
I was in the minority and really disliked this author’s debut novel, One of Us is Lying. I found it basic and frustrating. I am still debating whether I want to give the another another shot.
You Owe Me a Murder by Eileen Cook
I read With Malice by this author and was left feeling very unsatisfied. It’s strange because I couldn’t put the book down and then after it ended, I just felt “meh” about it.
Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte
I’m probably being judgy of this one because the title reminds me too much of Three Dark Crowsn, which I haven’t read yet. I don’t know, I’ll wait to see what people are saying about it and might eventually pick it up – it does sound like something I’d like.
The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston
I really didn’t like Geekerella – I kept getting bored. There wasn’t really anything wrong with it, it just wasn’t for me. However, this one features a female/female relationship – which is something I am always looking out for, so we’ll see.
This was pretty hard cause there are so many amazing books coming out this year but here are the fives that didn’t really grab my attention for some reason or another. I’m sorry if any are on your most anticipated list, it’s nothing personal, I still might end up buying some of these.
The Afterwards by EK Johnston
I don’t know if it’s because the synopsis or the cover but this one isn’t calling to me at all. I’ve never read anything by this author so it’s nothing about her writing or whatnot, it just doesn’t really grab my interest right now.
Sherwood by Meagan Spooner
I am so conflicted about this one. On one hand I love Robin Hood and am absolutely here for this gender bent retelling but on the other I read Hunted by her and didn’t care for it. So I think that for now I will leave it be and maybe, and it’s a very loose maybe, check it out eventually.
Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I know a lot of readers out there love this author, I have never read anything by her but I always read the synopsis and they never seemed to pique my interest. So maybe one day, I don’t know.
The Red Scroll of Magic by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu
Ok this one is mainly because there are too many books in the Shadowhunter universe that I don’t know if I want to read them or not.
Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins
I love a good time travelling story but I don’t know this one isn’t grabbing my attention at all. Plus the cover is a little bland. Might end up getting it, who knows.
Do you feel like us about any of these? What are books you are on the fence about?
I also wasn’t a fan of One Of Us Is Lying, so I’m somewhat hesitant to pick up the author’s next book!

Glad I wasn’t the only one. I really disliked it. I said I’d never read her again but a lot of people are saying this one is better. I think I’ll likely wait till it’s on discount on Bookoutlet or at a thrift store.

I want to read, like, all of these! The Red Scrolls of Magic is at the top of my TBR (it’s all about Malec!!!) but I totally get the too-much-Shadowhunters thing, I’m struggling to keep up with it all.
Thanks for visiting my TTT! ❤

I want to read every Shadowhunter book it’s just there is a million of them (well maybe not a million but still a lot). So maybe one day when my backlist is done (that will never happen)

Since I do so enjoy a Robin Hood re-telling, chances are, I’ll pick this one up at some point. But whether or not I’ll like it remains to be seen. “Four Dead Queens” has been SUPER popular these last few weeks (on lists). It certainly is getting lots of hype. Hope you enjoy your respective picks if you decide to read them. Thanks for the Finding Wonderland visit! 🙂

Two Can Keep A Secret is one that I still want to get but honestly , some other books have been calling to me more, so maybe I didn’t want it as much as I thought I did haha? Same with Sherwood.

it seems Sherwood is on a lot of people’s on the fence list this week. I’m going to wait and see what people think f it before I make up my mind.

Yeah, I am still really wary on it.

I read Enchantee last month and really loved it, but then it’s very my kind of book, so I always knew I was going to love it. I don’t think I’m going to read Two Can Keep A Secret since I wasn’t a fan of One of Us Is Lying either. I’m really excited for Sherwood though, I think it sounds great, I’ve been wanting to read a female Robin Hood story for a while.

I’m not sure I’ll read Sherwood. I read Hunted last year and it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my favorite either.

I felt the same way. It wasn’t bad, it had good elements about it but overall just an ok read.

So many people have mentioned Sherwood this week. I hadn’t heard of it at all before today, but now I’m intrigued.
This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

I’ll probably pick it up and hope it’s everything I wished for in a Robin Hood retelling

I think “Sherwood” sounds FANTASTIC, I’m pumped for it! I didn’t read “Hunted”, even though it’s been on my shelf for about as long as it’s been published… 😳

I’m glad I read Hunted before Acotar or I would have been comparing so much. I do like the covers though they are really pretty. I’m still conflicted about Sherwood.

I’ve not got any on my watch list for upcoming books so doubt they will make it on to my TBR List even if some do look good.

I can’t wait for Enchantee and Four Dead Queens! I found One of Us is Lying predictable, but still enjoyed it, so I will pick up Two Can Keep a Secret at some point soon!

I loved Two Can Keep A Secret! I enjoyed it even more than the author’s debut novel! I hope you give it a shot! Enchantee and Four Dead Queens are on my TBR list! I love time-travel books so I’m definitely going to check out Stolen Time.

I went back and forth with Hunted and ultimately didn’t pick it up, but that doesn’t mean I’m not always tempted by these new books by her. I hope you enjoy any of these that you end up picking up.

the red scrolls of magic is also on my list, since i never finished TMI series and i’m afraid i wouldn’t understand it. Enchantee, Four Dead Queens, and The Princess and the Fangirl are some books I look forward to read. I hope you enjoy them if you decide to read it 🙂

Enchantée was my favorite book that I read for the first time in 2018, if that means anything. I’m a huge fan of that book.
I pre-ordered Four Dead Queens, but I’m also not sure about Sherwood.

Yay! Contrary to Melanie I just got Enchantée. Happy you liked it

Four Dead Queens and You Owe Me A Murder made it on my list as well!
The title of Four Dead Queens reminded me of Three Dark Crowns as well haha, but that was actually what got em interested. Turns out it’s nothing like it haha.
I was unsatisfied with With Malice as well, that’s why I’m on the fence about that one too.
I did read Two Can Keep a Secret and liked it better than One Of Us is Lying! Hope you do too if you end up picking it up

Great post and an amazing list of books I also have four dead queens and sherwood on my ttt post I’ve been seeing mix reviews about these books on goodreads by readers who have read the arc’s of these books. I am still on the fence of putting these books on my tbr pile but I might need to check them out from the library when both books get published. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome post.

I too wasn’t a big fan of one of us is lying, but the second novel wasn’t too bad. I definitely liked it better than the first.
