Hey guys! It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday, which is currently being run by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. We knew instantly that we wanted to take part in this weekly meme because both of us love making list, so this is perfect!
This week’s (January 29th, 2019) topic is: The Ten Most Recent Additions to My To-Read List but we weren’t feeling that one, so we chose a topic from the past: Books to Pull You Our of a Reading Slump.
Since there are two of us running this blog (Melanie and Mireille), we’re going to break these memes up between us and each pick five!
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
Tired of rereading Potter? Well, give this one a shot. It is a completely different story but gives you that warm, magical feel that reading about Hogwarts does.
Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1) by Tricia Levenseller
This book is fast, light and fun. I love the lead character, Alossa and her badass ways. The banter is also A+ in this one.
The Bone Season (The Bone Season #1) by Samantha Shannon
I’m choosing this one because it got me back into the groove when I was having a horrible slump.
Note: I’m still mad at her for not putting out the fourth book yet though 😛
#Murdertrending (Murdertrending #1) by Gretchen McNeil
A lot of the time when I’m in a slump, I need something fast and not too involved. This one moves at the speed of light and has a really cool premise.
Sanctuary (Sanctuary #1) by Caryl Lix
I feel like this one has gone under the radar in the YA online community and I have no clue why. This is an edge-of-your seat YA sci-fi, it’s totally worth checking out. I five starred this one.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I will list this book anytime I can. I am a big fan of Jane Austen and love all her work but Pride and Prejudice is still my favourite. It’s such a fun read.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I love this book with all my heart. It’s so funny and amazing just the right thing to get back into reading. Plus with the sequel coming out this year just the right time to read it.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
All the Court books are like crack but this one is the best of the best. Such great characters and who doesn’t love Rhysand?
Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
These can always get me out of any slumps.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
You probably know by now that I am a Rainbow Rowell fan, her writing is so good and Fangirl is so much fun and it’s just the cutest. Sometimes a cute contemporary is just the thing to get you outof that slump.
So many of these are some of my absolute favorites!

Mireille, I completely agree that Harry Potter and Fangirl are the perfect books to pull you out of a reading slump! Melanie, I haven’t read any of your picks but I’ve heard such great things about Nevermoor and The Bone Season is on my TBR so one day they might be books I turn to as well!
Here’s my TTT if you want to check it out!

Totally worth checking out. It’s just a ton of fun and lots of conspiracy stuff going on! Not to mention it’s a prison in space and there are some crazy things loose on the ship!

I completely agree on Fangirl – I read it at a time when I still didn’t read much or very quickly, but I sat and devoured it in a day which was unheard of for a book with that many pages! Great choice of topic, I’ll definitely keep The Bone Season in mind next time I’m in a slump.
