New Year, New Reading Goals 2019

2019 goals

It’s already 2019, that is insane! We aren’t going to do a wrap-up for our 2018 goals because we didn’t really make a solid one this year and we’ve only had the blog up for a couple months now.  Next year, we completely will! We aren’t really strict on our goals but we are trying to set some and hopefully we’ll get a bunch of it crossed off! Of course, some will go astray – as per usual LOL

Goodreads 2019 Reading Challenge:
I will prob put 100 for this one.  I don’t really like to stress myself and 100 seems to be doable for me and I usually go over.

Yearly Reading Challenges:
I don’t really do many yearly ones but some of our moderators are running a wonderful yearly challenge in TBR and Beyond and I will def participate in that one.   I might participate in the A-Z Book challenge since it’s in my book journal, but I won’t be working extra hard on it or anything.  I usually have a monthly challenge going on from the group, so that tends to take up my challenge spots.

Finish Series:
This one I really want to work on! I almost finished The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer this year but I am currently on Winter.  I need to read Stars Above and the graphic novels as well.   Other than that the series I want done are in 2019 are:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J.  Maas
The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson
Jackaby Series by William Ritter
Witch’s Child series by Catherine Egan

Backlist:
I have hundreds of books on my backlist.  I’m just going to list a handful that I WILL get done *fingers crossed*

Sawkill Girls by Clare LeGrand
Not Even Bones by
Wildcard by Marie Lu
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
Pitch Black by Courtney Alameda
Devils Unto Dust by Emma Berquist
Spellbook for the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle
Allegedly by Tiffany Jackson
Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios
Arsonist by Stephanie Oakes

That is about it for me.  I do plan on reading a lot of 2019 releases, but I’m hoping I won’t ignore the rest of my books.  I also want to work on getting some of my Owlcrate Box books read.  I’m very behind on them.

Goodreads 2019 Reading Challenge:
Ok, in 2018 I put my reading goal at 75 books to see if I could get to it and I did but it was a close call. So for 2019 I am bringing it back to 50 books if I go over it than great but I do not want to stress with it. I can always change it during the course of the year.

Yearly Reading Challenges:
I’ve never done a yearly challenge like Popsugar or whatnot but for 2019 in the Facebook group we have come up with our own challenge so I will be partaking in that one. I also want to do the A to Z challenge hosted by Ginger Mom and Company  (post to come) and I might try the Modern Mrs Darcy challenge.

Finish Series:
One of my goal in 2018 was to finish some series that I’ve had for a couple of years and yeah I failed, so pushing this one over to 2019. I want to finish:

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
And I Darken by Kiersten White
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.
If I can get to others than that is brilliant but I have to finish these three.

Backlist:
There are so many amazing books coming out in 2019 and I am really excited for them but I need to get as many backlist books read as new ones. So my goal is for every new release I read I want to read a book that has been on my TBR for over a year.

  1. Those are some awesome goals you set for yourself!!
I really need to finish the lunar chronicles as well.
Only read Cinder so far and loved it!

I can’t wait to see what you’ll think of the rest of the Remnant chronicles btw @melanie and what you’ll think of the rest of Throne of Glass @Mireille! I love both series a lot ❤ And you have a backlist list as well I see hihi. Hope you get around to completing that goal! I put 40 books on my backlist tbr this year. I failed miserable in my backlist challenge in 2018, so I’m determined to make it work this time around, lol.

    Good luck with your challenges!!

    1. I know I’ll love Remnant – I have zero reasons why I haven’t read the series yet LOL I have hundreds on my backlist sadly – it’s horrible. I am slowly adding some that I want to make sure I get done this year. The second I add too many, I get overwhelmed and lose interest. I had like 50 I think last year and failed so hard too lol Don’t feel bad!

  2. Good luck to both of you! I normally put 100 for Goodreads and go over, but I am really hoping to get a full time job this year and I know that will limit my reading, so I just put it at 50. I definitely want to focus more on the books that I already own or have been meaning to read. I FINALLY read Winter last year, but I still have Wires and Nerve pt. 2 and Stars Above to still read.
