I’m a big fan of Graphic Novels and Comics, you can imagine how excited I was to get these three new ones from Netgalley. We won’t be doing extended reviews for graphic novels but we will be sharing our thoughts on the ones we read with you guys. So here it goes the first of (hopefully) many to come:
Watersnakes by Tony Sandoval
First off the cover is stunning and is very representative of what you will find inside in terms of artwork. It’s one of the most gorgeous graphic novel I’ve seen. The colour palette is very minimalistic but sets the tone for the story in this kind of dream like way..
The story itself is this trippy journey that you have to embark on. It has fairytale qualities to it, very lyrical, sprinkled with magic.

Book Love by Debbie Tung
Oh my god, this books was just the cutest. I hadn’t realized when I got it from Netgalley that this was by the same author then Quiet Girl in a Noisy World which is also a super cute graphic novel. In Book Love any bookworm will definitely recognize themselves. There were a lot of moments while reading this graphic novel that I smiled to myself thinking oh yeah I’ve done that. Really recommend this one.

What Makes Girls Sick and Tired by Lucile de Pesloüan, Genevieve Darling
This graphic novel was a really fast read, i could have taken a lot more of it. It is not a story but more of a manifesto to feminism. All pages start with the statements Girls are sick and tired because… followed by an enunciation of a frustrating sexist fact.
I enjoyed this graphic novel in part because the authors did not have the pretension to have the answers but merely stating what a lot of woman face every day or will face at least once in their lives. In this case the message comes first but I still found the artwork was very enjoyable.

I really should start doing short GN reviews like this. I think I’ve only done one post for them so far. I loved reading this!
